The Fayetteville Fire Department maintained Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). The Fire Department met criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program.

Due to the increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service and City of Fayetteville Fire Department issued a ban on open burning. Also, land clearing burning permits are canceled for the City of Fayetteville in accordance with Fire Prevention Ordinance section 11.11.

Effective Nov. 29, Jodi Phelps is the City of Fayetteville Corporate Communications Director. In her new role, Phelps will oversee media relations and strategic internal and external communication and marketing plans, ensuring they align with goals and objectives in the City’s Strategic Plan.

The City of Fayetteville has a key player at the table to negotiate and advocate for U.S. military service members. Governor Roy Cooper appointed Fayetteville Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen to the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NC MAC). Jensen will serve a two-year term on the Commission.

After 30 years and three months of dedicated service to the City of Fayetteville, Larry White retired on October 1, 2021. Larry was hired on July 14, 1991 with Cumberland County. He worked out of Arnette Park his entire career with the City, as a Maintenance Worker.
