Public ribbon cutting ceremony for new park
Children and community members in Montclair will soon have a new park facility in their neighborhood when the Montclair Neighborhood School Park officially opens following a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, April 5. The public is invited to the event which will begin at 10 a.m.

Ranger entertains and educates park visitors
Who knew a Leprechaun hunt could be part of the job? Park Ranger Rusty James created a St. Patrick’s Day themed scavenger hunt for visitors at Lake Rim Park. Park visitors follow a map, find symbols, locate Leprechauns and receive a prize when they return to the Information Center.

Hopefully, you heard about Fayetteville’s inaugural HER Week. In case you haven’t, HER Week was celebrated Mar. 7 -11 as a local tribute to Women’s History Month. The City of Fayetteville partnered with NC CEED to host in-person and virtual events.

Fire Department promotions and awards

Fayetteville Arbor Day celebration & Tree City USA recognition
All are invited to celebrate Arbor Day at the City of Fayetteville’s public ceremony on Monday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place outside Clark Park Nature Center at 631 Sherman Drive. City leaders and staff will highlight the tree that built the South, the Longleaf Pine.

Fire Department Begins Annual Fire Hydrant Painting
The Fayetteville Fire Department recently began its semi-annual fire hydrant servicing that includes placing a fresh coat of paint to ensure clear visibility. Typically conducted later in the year, it was moved to early March to get ahead of the anticipated rising fuel prices.

Lifeguard applications open for summer season
Candidates can now apply for Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation (FCPR) Lead Lifeguard and Lifeguard positions online at fayettevillenc.gov. Lifeguards are needed at all four FCPR pools.

Athletics registration deadline & FCPR updates
Registration is still open for youth up to age 17 to participate in Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation (FCPR) Spring Athletics. Interested individuals and families can sign up through Tuesday, March 1.Programs available include indoor soccer, baseball, softball, rugby, lacrosse & track.

Ribbon cutting ceremony set for new Manna Dream Center location
City of Fayetteville and Manna Church leaders will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Manna Dream Center shelter at Person Street on Friday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. The Center is located at 913 Person Street. A tour of the upgraded space will follow the ribbon cutting ceremony.
