    Yamile Nazar has been appointed as the new director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Department. Nazar has served as the interim director of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission and assumes her new role today, Monday, January 3.

    The Fayetteville Fire Department maintained Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). The Fire Department met criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program.

    Open burn ban implemented due to dry conditions

    Due to the increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service and City of Fayetteville Fire Department issued a ban on open burning. Also, land clearing burning permits are canceled for the City of Fayetteville in accordance with Fire Prevention Ordinance section 11.11.

    Jensen now Member of Military Affairs Commission

    The City of Fayetteville has a key player at the table to negotiate and advocate for U.S. military service members. Governor Roy Cooper appointed Fayetteville Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen to the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NC MAC). Jensen will serve a two-year term on the Commission.
