City of Fayetteville wins award for Watershed Master Planning Program
The City of Fayetteville has been awarded the 2024 Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) James Lee Witt Local Award for Excellence for its Watershed Master Planning Program. The award was announced at the ASFPM 2024 National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 27.

FAST invites the public to discuss FTA funded projects
The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will host a consultation meeting to discuss the Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal on July 29, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the second floor of the FAST Transit Center at 505 Franklin Street, Fayetteville.

Fayetteville to receive $6.6 million from the Federal Transit Administration
The City of Fayetteville will be receiving a grant for $6,667,462 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the FY 2024 Low and No Emission Vehicle and Grants for Bus and Bus Facilities programs.

FAST to host hiring fair on July 16
FAST will host a hiring fair on July 16 at 505 Franklin Street in Fayetteville for both full- and part-time Transit Operator II positions. These positions require a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions. The hiring fair will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Transit service to expand along the Bragg Blvd Corridor
The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will begin providing expanding service on Aug. 1 along the Bragg Blvd. Corridor. FAST will now provide transportation from the FAST Center to Procurement Circle, near the new Amazon Fulfillment Center.

Paid parking hours roll back to 5 p.m.
Visitors to downtown Fayetteville can now park for free after 5 p.m. The new parking hours went into effect July 1, replacing the previous paid parking hours that ended at 7 p.m.

Homebuying HERO Program makes homebuying attainable
A special incentive of $30,000 is now available for first-time homebuyers who are employees of the City of Fayetteville, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Cumberland County Schools, and Cumberland County Government though the city’s Economic and Community Development Department’s HERO Program.

Manna Dream Center, a local nonprofit organization and church, officially took over running the Fayetteville Day Resource Center, (DRC) today, filling a role that had previously been filled by Cumberland HealthNET.

FAST begins service to Bill Crisp Senior Center on July 1

Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation was awarded a $7,200 grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville|Cumberland County to support the Independence Concert which will be held in Festival Park on Thursday, July 4.

Additional Flight from FAY to ATL to begin in September
Delta Airlines is set to enhance travel convenience for passengers at Fayetteville Regional Airport (FAY) by adding a third daily flight to Atlanta (ATL) starting September 9. The additional frequency flight will increase travel options and reduce layover times for passengers flying through Atlanta.
