Fayetteville welcomes EECBG Community Energy Fellow
The City of Fayetteville recently received a $245,040 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program. In addition to this grant, the Department of Energy has approved the placement of a fully-funded EECBG Community Energy Fellow.

Solid Waste Division Holds Mascot Contest
The City of Fayetteville’s Solid Waste Division will hold a Mascot Contest for students, kindergarten through grade 12, including homeschool students. Participants are invited to create and submit their idea of a Solid Waste Mascot.

Fayetteville City Hall turns purple for International Overdose Awareness Day
The City of Fayetteville will be lighting City Hall up purple from Aug. 28 through Sept. 2 in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day. International Overdose Awareness Day is Aug. 31 and is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdoses.

Fayetteville employees support United Way’s Meal Packing Event
More than 30 City of Fayetteville employees participated in the United Way of Cumberland County’s annual Meal Packing Event. The event, held Aug. 22 at the Crown Expo Center, featured approximately 500 participants from various agencies and organizations.

FAST to adjust service on three routes
The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will be changing the frequency of stops on three routes starting Sept. 9. The schedule changes are being made due to a shortage of transit drivers.

ACE Academy continues to improve
The Fayetteville Regional Airport (FAY) held its third annual Aviation Career Education “Ace” Academy on Aug. 5 and 6. A North Carolina Department of Transportation grant and donated time and materials from speakers, pilots, and tenants at FAY made this the most successful year of the program.
