Public Services Administrative Assistant Dana Bain posed for a photo with Department of Administration Secretary Pamela Brewington Cashwell. Governor Cooper appointed Cashwell to the Cabinet position in March. Bain is married to Cashwell’s nephew.

City of Fayetteville leaders will present a City bus to Fayetteville Technical Community College administrators on Tuesday, July 27. The FAST bus will be donated to FTCC for the school’s future Training Program for Class B Commercial Driver’s License for transporting passengers.

The Fayetteville - Cumberland County Locks Creek Debris Removal Project finished two months ahead of schedule. The project start date was June 6, 2021 and estimated completion date was September 2021. The project was completed ahead of schedule on July 7.

City of Fayetteville crews are preparing for potential responses to Elsa. According to the National Weather Service, the storm will move through Central North Carolina tomorrow. Forecasters say we could see heavy rainfall and there is the potential for damaging winds and an isolated tornado.

First floor renovations are underway inside City Hall. Upgrades to the Front Lobby, Cape Fear Room and Council Chambers should be complete in November 2021. Renovations began after the June 28 City Council regular meeting.

The start of every other week recycling is delayed and will begin August 1. Due to material and production issues, new cart deliveries will continue through the end of July. Every other week recycling was originally scheduled to begin July 1.

Kelly Olivera has been tapped to be Fayetteville’s new Budget and Evaluation Director. Olivera began her new role this week after serving as Assistant Director for the last five years. Olivera’s promotion comes as former Director Tracey Broyles plans to retire after 30 years of service to the City.

Fayetteville City Council Members approved the Fiscal Year 2022 budget today, June 14, after several weeks of discussion. The balanced budget total is $240.3 million. There is no tax rate increase and no increase in stormwater, transit or solid waste fees.
