City services delayed for Jan. 23

Post Date:01/22/2025 4:09 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - City government offices will resume services on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Jan. 23 due to icy road conditions.

Street crews have been working diligently around the clock spreading sand on city-maintained roadways, covering approximately 40% of city streets.

Although much of the snow on the roads has melted, there are still sections of roads that are covered. Many of these areas are shaded by buildings or trees. City officials continue to urge residents to stay off the roads as night falls. Snowmelt will likely freeze overnight resulting in black ice on roads.

Updates/Changes to City Services:

  • City Hall and administrative offices will open to the public tomorrow at 10 a.m.
  • Solid Waste services will be delayed until roads are safe for crews to operate. Residents are encouraged to place their rollout carts out for collection. No yard waste will be collected this week or next week. For updates on Solid Waste services, visit FayettevilleNC.gov/SolidWaste
  • FAST transit services will begin at 1 p.m. and services will conclude at their regular time. For route details, please visit RideFAST.net.
  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Centers will operate on the abbreviated schedule of 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Passengers who are traveling with the Fayetteville Regional Airport are encouraged to contact their airline directly for any questions on flight schedules.
  • Residents are encouraged to call 911 for any emergencies, including downed trees or powerlines on a road.
  • City officials will continue to monitor the roads and provide updates as necessary.

For more information on city updates and services, residents can call (910)433-1FAY(1329) or visit FayettevilleNC.gov or the city’s social media pages.
