General Contractor License Prep Program
We are pleased to announce that the General Contractors License Prep Program is ongoing, and new dates for future sessions will be set soon. Despite the recent rescheduling, we encourage all interested individuals to pre-register now to secure their spot in upcoming cohorts.
This General Contractors License Prep Program offers an opportunity for participants to receive training and test preparation with the expected outcome of preparing participants to take and pass the General Contractors Exam. The City of Fayetteville hopes this will encourage greater participation in government contracting as well as new and improved employment opportunities. Training facilitated by Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) will include the following areas of focus: Building/Construction/Industrial Training, Blueprint Reading/Construction, Carpentry, Residential Building Codes, Demolition, Res Planning/Estimating, and Construction Safety.
The program will consist of two (2) full days (8 hours) of classroom training. City sponsorship will cover supplies, materials, testing fees, legal fees, and credit assistance. Cohort size will be limited to ten (10) to fifteen (15) participants. All participants must agree to retain or create at least one full-time equivalent job and make it available to a low to moderate-income person within one year from the date of the completed program and to take the NC General Contractor License exam within 90 days of completing the test preparation. Failure to do so will obligate the participant to reimburse all expenses incurred during the program
Thank you for your interest in this vital program. Stay tuned for future announcements, and we look forward to supporting your journey toward becoming a licensed general contractor!
