A lot of love and resources at the August 14 “Heal the Ville” event at Festival Park. The free event was a public education and memorial experience. Organizers invited members of the community to speak and help “stop the violence”.

Parks and Recreation Rangers led the Moth Night 2021 event at Clark Park. According to Park Ranger Supervisor Jennifer Smith, more than 20 people participated. Smith says that number was the most ever and families enjoyed it.

City Hall renovations should be complete in November 2021. These photos from August 18 show the construction in Council Chamber and the Front Lobby. The project budget is approximately $1 million.

Recently Fayetteville Fire Department water rescuers saved a kayaker who was stuck along the Cape Fear River near Old Bluff Church Road in the Wade community around 2 a.m. At minimum, about five Firefighters respond to a water rescue call.

Today, Mayor Mitch Colvin issued an amended State of Emergency for the City of Fayetteville. The update is due to the rapid and prevalent spread of the COVID Delta variant. The new declaration takes effect Friday, August 20 at 5:00 p.m. It will remain in effect until it is modified or rescinded.
