(Fayetteville, N.C.) – Fayetteville’s newest splash pad is set to open at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 21 at 10 a.m. The new splash pad is located at 1455 Hoke Loop Road, outside Lake Rim Recreation Center.
Fayetteville City Council Members will cut the ribbon along with members of the Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear and Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation (FCPR) summer camp participants.
The Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear donated $20,000 to construct the newest splash pad. The splash pad at Lake Rim Recreation Center is zero-depth entry and uses recycled water.
When this splash pad opens, there will be a total of 12 public splash pads throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Splash pads are free to access. FCPR splash pad locations, hours of operation and contacts are posted online.
The splash pad is just one of many new additions in the western part of Fayetteville. Approximately four miles up the road, the Bill Crisp Senior Center is under construction beside Lake Rim and is scheduled to open later this summer. The Senior Center site is across the street from Lake Rim Park and Aquatic Center.
In other parts of the City, planning is in progress for additional FCPR projects like the expansion of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, the new Mazarick Park Tennis Center and Mable C. Smith Park. These important investments in today and tomorrow make the region a desirable place to live, work and play.
