CITY MANAGER’S UPDATE
City Manager Hewett introduced the two finalists for Chief of Police, James Nolette and Kemberle Braden, and invited the public to attend or watch the Community Meeting on Tuesday with the candidates.
City Manager Hewett shared information about the community meetings held by ShotSpotter at the Council’s request.
CONSENT AGENDA
Items passed on the December 12 Consent Agenda include the following:
Council declared the results of $97 million Fayetteville Forward Bonds approved by voters in November.
Several people signed up to speak during the public forum period. The topics included community outreach, ShotSpotter, water quality and police accountability.
LEGISLATIVE & PUBLIC HEARINGS
Council conducted a hearing and approved moving forward with the review of support for Economic Equity Venture Capital Fund with American Rescue Plan Funds. The Fund would be managed by the Community Development Foundation.
Following the final public hearing, Council authorized the issuance of private activity bonds up to $114 million related to two mixed income housing developments at 1701 Owen Drive and 1944 Cedar Creek Road.
Council heard an update from Cool Spring Downtown District on the second annual Night Circus: A District New Year Eve’s Spectacular Event to be held in Festival Park.
The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Monday, January 9 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers in City Hall. The January Work Session will be held on Tuesday, January 3 at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers.
