FPD Officer Involved in Collision
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, February 19, 2017 at approximately 7:10 pm, an officer with the Fayetteville Police Department was involved in a vehicle collision on Cedar Creek Road at the Fields Road intersection.
The investigation revealed that an officer in training was traveling east on Cedar Creek Road and began to slow in preparation to conduct a u-turn. A 1988 Ford F-150 was traveling in the same direction and attempted to slow down upon recognizing that the police vehicle was attempting to make a u-turn. The truck was unable to come to a complete stop and struck the driver’s side of the police vehicle.
The female driver of the Ford F-150 and a juvenile passenger were not seriously injured during the crash and have been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. The Police Officer in training along with their Field Training Officer were not seriously injured during the crash and also have been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. The officer driving the police vehicle was temporarily pinned in the vehicle and was extricated with assistance from the Fayetteville Fire Department.
The vehicle crash remains under investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Cedar Creek Road is closed between L.A. Dunham Road and Fields Road. Motorists are encouraged to utilize an alternate route until emergency personnel can clear the area.
