Pedestrian Traffic Fatality
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Monday, December 12, 2016 at approximately 2:20 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the service road adjacent to 2466 Gillespie Street.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian was walking along the service road adjacent to Gillespie Street, when they were struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveling south along the same side of the service road. The pedestrian was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where they were pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was not injured during the crash.
The FPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the fatal crash and additional information will be released as it becomes available. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld, until their immediate family can be notified.
The service road adjacent to Gillespie Street at W. Mountain Drive has been closed; however the roadway will be open for the morning commute.
