Detectives Seek Individual Who May Have Information

Regarding a Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are requesting assistance in locating an individual believed to have information concerning the homicide of Jason McKnight, which occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 along the 1300 block of Turnpike Road.

Detectives believe Carlos J. McLean (B/M, 35 years of age) has information pertinent to the investigation and are requesting Mr. McLean to make contact with Detectives. Mr. McLean has not been charged with any crime and is only believed to have information pertinent to this on-going investigation.

Update to Shooting Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit received information that the victim who was shot along the 1300 block of Turnpike Road on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, has died. 

The victim has been identified as Jason McKnight (B/M, 34 years of age) of the 900 block of Rochester Drive in Fayetteville.

Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the fatal shooting and are asking anyone with information to come forward and speak with detectives. 

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Shooting Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at approximately 5:46 pm Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a shooting along the 1300 block of Turnpike Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a male victim was walking along the 1300 block of Turnpike Road when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside the victim and an occupant of the vehicle began firing shots at the victim. The male victim was struck once by the gunshots in the head and was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Detectives with FPD are actively investigating the shooting and additional information will be released as it becomes available. 

The name of the victim is currently being withheld until detectives can contact the victim's immediate family.
