All suspects, and persons charged with a crime, are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Persons of interest are believed to have information relating to a case and have not been charged unless stated otherwise.

 

Hit and Run Traffic Fatality

           

(Fayetteville, NC) – On June 1, 2024, at approximately 10:04 p.m., Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the area of Cliffdale Road and Seaford Drive in reference to a crash.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, Rebecca Dunbenit, (White female, 63 years old) of Fayetteville NC, was attempting to cross Cliffdale Road on an electric mobility scooter when an unknown vehicle collided with her scooter and fled the area. No evidence at the scene indicates the type of vehicle involved in the collision. We are currently searching for the suspect vehicle.

 

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Officer J. Smith at (910) 987-4510 .
