Update to Suspicious Death Investigation – Now Homicide Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – The investigation into the suspicious death of a male along the 2000 block of Center Street is now a homicide investigation. 

The preliminary investigation has revealed the deceased male suffered from a gunshot wound and succumbed to his injury on the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld until his family is located and notified. 

The circumstances surrounding the decedent's death are actively under investigation. Additional information, will be released as it becomes available.  

 

Suspicious Death Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating a suspicious death along the 2000 block of Center Street.  

 

On July 17, 2023, at approximately 5:45 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 300 block of Dallas Street for reports of shots fired in the area and a deceased male located behind a residence. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a male behind a residence along the 2000 block of Center Street. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. The decedent's name is being withheld until the family is located and notified.

Homicide detectives have assumed the investigation into the suspicious death of the decedent to determine the cause and manner of his death. Additional information, will be released as it becomes available.
